Raising Techie Kids

Kids these days are so technologically-advanced that even toddlers as young as 3 years old are showing a particularly keen interest on gadgets and gizmos like mobile phones and digital cameras. They would automatically reach for mom’s iPad, curious and raring to use their new “discovery.” And long before mom is even aware, they would probably start figuring out learning how to use the thing, much like they did with the remote and the television or DVD player’s power buttons. Long after that, they have probably moved on to dad’s laptop or are probably requesting you to buy them a vocopro or a gadget of their own. Blame it on the fast-paced world they were born in and on the ads they get to see regularly on television and everywhere else.

Movie treat

The kids and I are planning to watch a movie this weekend. I promised them a little treat after getting their report card last month. They perform well in school especially my eldest so I told them that we are going to watch Breaking Dawn or any movie that they want to see on Saturday or Sunday.

Since the kids love to watch movies, it would be a good investment to have a 5.1 home theatre systemat home for an enhanced home theatre experience. With a good home theater system, we could save our funds for movie tickets, snacks and fare going to the mall.

They love to read

My kids developed the habit of reading at an early age. I’m glad that we’re able to instill in them the love for books as preschoolers. When we bring them to the office or a relatives’ house, I always carry one or two of their favorite books. I also bring crayons and coloring books instead of toys. Now that they are older they still enjoy reading books and magazines. They also check on some sites on the Internet for good reading stuff. With the accessibility of Internet at home, I just hope their interest with books will never fade as they grow older. Lately, the kids wish to own a tablet computer that they can carry around wherever they go.

How about you, does your child have the same fascination for books?
